Beauty in the midst

Posted by hopevillage on July 3, 2010 at 5:59 AM

Chikwawa is a dry region, it is hard to grow maize and crops unless you are lucky enough to have a piece of land near the river. You can walk through a village and see poverty, hunger and children in nothing but rags and it is so overwhelming.

Yet in the midst of it there can be such beauty just like this flower that we have growing at Hope Village. It helps to remind us that even in the desert a seed can take root and something beautiful can grow, that there is hope no matter how things seem in the natural and those who put their trust in God will be like trees planted by a stream of living water.

'to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendour'.

Isaiah 61:3
