The Gills in Malawi

This week we received a phone call asking us to come and be with our friend as her husband had been killed in a tragic accident.  In the words of his wife Rebekah, he died doing what he loved doing most....being adventurous!  We were then and still are now in complete shock.

We have know Daryl, Rebekah, Jon and Caleb for the past 2 years and they have become very good friends to us.  We love the passion they have for Jesus and the servant hearts that they have.  Daryl was a complete joker and was always teasing and having fun with the kids.  He was a man that stood up for righteousness and truth.  He was a man who loved photography.  He was a wonderful husband, father and friend.  He loved africa and had such a heart for the people here.  He was always willing to go where God lead him.  I know that his life touched many including our own.  We will miss your encouragment, he always knew the right thing to say. 

He died on the 7th September and was buried on the 8th September with the most beautiful sunset which he would have loved.  His funeral was very special.

We are thankful that we had a wonderful weekend away at the Lake with him and his family at the end of August.  Memories that we will keep in our hearts forever, especially the delicious fish and chips he made us all!  Daryl, we will forever hold you in our hearts and we will miss you, we know that one day we will meet again!  Our loss is heavens gain.
